Here we go…again.

And we're back and we're pretty. Well the new site is, anyway. Some of you may have visited us in the past. Many more of you are likely visiting us for the first time. Let me welcome all of you to our first blog post in a long time. It's embarrassing how long I've allowed myself to ignore something that used to bring me a lot of joy. I also put a lot of work into writing stories (we hope to get those moved over to this new format in the future.)

We started this website back in December 2015 to document our off road adventures, but a twist of fate changed our plans in April of 2016 when we pulled up stakes in our home state of Utah and temporarily moved to California to do a remodel of the Beverly Center in Los Angeles for my day job. We spent two and a half years there during which we took the opportunity to explore as much of the state as possible. We had annual passes to Disneyland and Universal Studios that the family definitely got our money's worth out of. Well, almost. I spent most of my days working while they got to run off to play, but that's just part of deal I guess.

We came up with a rule early on while there. We wanted to spend our weekends experiencing things that we wouldn't do if we were taking a regular vacation to California. The result was two years of some of the best "traveling" we've ever had. Thanks to today's technology it was easy to use Google to find great locations and sites to visit. I would look up an area and find an interesting place to go, which led to another place and then another. It was so easy to do.

Upon our return to Utah we realized that although we've explored a lot of our state, there was still a lot of places that we have never thought of visiting. In fact, there are things here that I hadn't heard of until I did some research. I've used the same tactics that I used in California and, of course, I found a plethora of places that I wanted to visit right here in my own "backyard."

Things haven't changed much. I'm currently working on a high profile construction project in downtown Salt Lake City that takes up a lot of my time, but to help keep my sanity, we're going to implement the California travel logic. We're going to take every chance we get to get away from the house and explore. From day trips to week long vacations, we're going to get out and live life and we're going to share it with the world. Because, why not? Everyone does these days. So we plan to explore, educate and entertain our way through more great locations around the state of Utah and beyond and we'll share it all with you. It feels like we're starting fresh, which I suppose we are thanks to our long absence, but I assure you that my sense of humor is still going strong and this time I have helpers to keep the ball rolling (thanks, fam!) So, we're inviting you to tag along with us and learn about what might be hiding in your own backyard and perhaps you'll even find your own route to adventure.
